Significant Courses Taken/Relevant Projects:
• Transportation Engineering:
o Designed the alignment, profile and superelevation of a freeway ramp using
AutoCAD. Typical cross section of the proposed road was rendered.
• Pavement Design:
o Designed four different types of pavements given a set of traffic data. For each
design, a different method was used including AASHTO rigid and flexible
pavements, as well as Caltrans ridged and flexible pavements. Cross sections of
the depth of each layer were developed using CAD design software. Microsoft
Excel and the Caltrans design manual were used for calculations.
• Traffic Analysis:
o Designing an intersection given a set of traffic data. HCS was used to determine
Level of Service to help determine if intersections should be wider. Using the
“Passer” software and inputting the traffic data, a phase diagram was developed to
have the intersection running at an optimum level.
2. • Senior Project:
o My senior project involved the improvement of an interchange in the city of
Fresno in which I designed the roadway alignments, roadway profiles, roadway
geometrics, and utility relocations. Development of phase diagrams in the project
area were also improved to have each intersection work at city of Fresno and
Caltrans Standards or better. Plan sheets were compiled where layouts, profiles,
signing and striping along with a written report of our specific jobs.
