Sassui Punhun, Noori Jam Tamachi, Sorath Rai
Diyach and Momal Rano commonly known as
Seven heroines (Sindhi: ‫ست‬‫سورميون‬ ) of Shah Abdul
Latif Bhittai.
 Shah Abdul Latif] said to be mirror of Sindhi
literature.
STORY …
 Raja Chanesar was the ruler of the Sindh from the
Soomro dynasty.
 He was happily married to Lila.who was very fond
of Diamonds and Jewelry.
CONTINUE …
 At the same time, Rana Kanghar and his wife
Mirkhi ruled over Lakhpat in Kutchh. The couple
had a beautiful but vain daughter Kaunru.
 Being the only daughter of Rana Khanghar and
Mirkhi, too much love had spoiled her. She was
proud of her beauty and was always worried about
her looks.
 Kaunru was engaged to her cousin Utmadi.
CONTINUE….
 One day her friend Jamni who was the sister of
Utmadi teased Kaunru about her attitude, saying
she was behaving as if she would be the queen of
Chanesar.
 Kaunru was hurt and told her mother that either she
would have to marry Chanesar, or she would
commit suicide.
 Her parents were worried, but they were aware that
Chanaesar was married and loved his Queen Lila
very much.
CONTINUE……
 After consulting her husband, Mirkhi and Kaunru
disguised themselves as traders and left for Dewal.
 There they managed to consult Jakhiro the king’s
minister and asked him to help them.
 He promised he would persuade Chanesar to marry
Kaunru.
CONTINUE ….
 When Jakhiro spoke to Chanesar about Kaunru,
the king lost his temper and told him that he should
not talk like that in future.
 In Lila’s presence, he could not even think about
any other woman.
 Jakhiro offered his apologies to Mirkhi and Kaunru
and told them that there was no hope, and that it
was therefore useless for them to try.
CONTINUE …
 Kaunru and her mother put on ordinary dresses to
disguise themselves and went to Lila’s palace.
 There they asked Lila to employ them in her
service, as they had abandoned their country
because of poverty.
 Lila felt sorrow for them and employed them as
personal servants. Kaunru was asked to arrange
Chanesar’s bed every day.
CONTINUES ….
 Once while performing her duties, Kaunru started
crying and on inquiry told the queen that she
(Kaunru) too was a princess
 who had every luxury and that instead of lanterns
and lamps, her room was lit by the glittering
diamonds of her “Naulakha Har”.
 Now diamonds and fine jewelry were the queen’s
weakness.
CONTINUE …
 When Queen Lila saw the necklace, she asked
Kaunru to quote the price.
 Kaunru in return asked for a night with the king.
 The foolish queen agreed and asked her husband
to sleep with Kaunru.
 Chanesar furious at the suggestion refused to
comply with the queen’s wishes.
CONTINUE …
 One night when Chanesar came to bed stone
drunk, Lila asked Kaunru to sleep in her place.
 In the morning when Chanesar found Kaunru on his
side, He was very angry and was about to leave the
room, when Mirkhi (Kaunru’s mother) told him that
Lila had sold him to Kaunru in return for the
‘Naulakha Har’.
 he was shocked and felt insulted. Seething with
anger he turned Lila out of the castle and married
Kaunru.
CONTINUE …
 Lila tried to apologize, cried but Chanesar
refused to listen to her,
 saying that she had preferred jewelry to him and
that he did not love her any more.
 Lila after giving up all hope left his house and
went to her parents.
CONTINUE …
 Jakhiro who was the minister of Chanesar was
engaged to one of the girls from Lila's family.
 But they refused to give her hand to him after
the fate of Lila.
 The minister approached Lila who get involved
but asked him to bring Chanesar on his
wedding, to which he happily agreed.
CONTINUE …
 On the event of Jakhiro's wedding Chanesar
came along with the bridegroom party.
 Lila decided to be part of girls group, who were
assigned task of entertaining the wedding party
with their dance and singing.
 Lila was performing with a semi transparent
fabric covering her face.
CONTINUE …
 During the passed time Chanesar become
aware of whole story about Kanuru
 and also become fade up of her proudly and
arrogant nature and started to remember happy
and peaceful days with Lila and
 this voice of covered face took him in those
golden days,
CONTINUE…
 it was a hard task for him to tolerate situation so
he went on the stage and bagged the girl to
unveil her face.
 It was so shocking for him to discover the face
of Lila behind the semi transparent fabrics
 that he fall down on floor and in the same
moment died and Lila at very same moment she
fall on the side of Chanesar and she also died.
