This Art Portfolio explores themes of nature, life and abstract ideas. Although I have never received a formal education in art, this portfolio portrays my journey with art over the past 4 years.
2. “Into the
Unknown”
I created this piece over the course of 4
hours, patiently sketching lines creating a
pattern that creates an optical effect upon
viewing.
3. “Awareness of
Impermanence”
This piece was completed over the course
of a week, as it was slightly more advanced
in comparison to some of my earlier pieces.
The Japanese script is an expression for the
awareness of impermanence, which is a
theme the astronaut’s position conveys.
4. “Time”
This intricate piece represents the
continuity of time and its relation to nature,
symbolized in the form of a butterfly.Time
is fleeting, one should make the most of
their short life, much like a butterfly, who
has a short lifetime.
5. “Freedom”
I created this piece with the notion of
portraying the connection between nature
and humanity, which was represented as a
sunflower breaking free of a man-made
object, a lightbulb. I also incorporated some
abstract elements to maintain continuity
with my earlier pieces.
6. “Space From
Space”
I created this differently styled piece over
the course of 1 day. I cut each part of the
drawing into differently sized triangles,
then assembled them and added a 3D
rocket. This piece is titled Space from
Space, as this is what I’d imagine the view
of space to look like from another extra-
terrestrial planet.
7. “Knowledge”
A traditional Greek figure drawing,
completed with slight shading. The wreath
is a common symbol of knowledge, thus
appropriately naming the piece.
8. “Light and
Dark”
Representing the biblical Devil and Angel,
this drawing shows the internal struggle
each individual faces between their
figurative angels and demons, as the skull is
split into and angel wing and a devil wing.
9. “Love growing
Old”
Continuing the theme of skulls, this piece
represents love dying, as the rose
symbolizes love whereas the skull is
representative of death and decay. As the
rose continues to grow, as does the skull.
10. “Geometric
Wolf”
The geometric wolf continues my abstract
pieces of art, although I later modified it to
continue some writing and extra layers.
This was one of my earlier pieces, given as a
gift to a family member.
11. “Geometric
Half Lion”
Like the previous slide, I made this
geometric lion in continuation to the wolf
to continue the theme of nature and
geometry.
12. “Hummingbird”
One of my simpler works, this is a basic
sketch of a hummingbird mid-flight. This
was created after a lengthy period of
inactivity, and so I began with something
simple.
13. “Abstract
Overlay”
A relatively simpler piece, I experimented
with using colors in my art and using
different layers. This was created over the
span of 3 hours.
14. “Abstract
Intricacy”
This piece was created 3 years ago, when
the majority of art I created was based
upon abstract designs. Inside an abstract
design, further complicated designs were
incorporated, thus spawning the name
“Abstract Intricacy”.
