My client is a 30-year-old woman from Hungary who is on maternity leave. She came to Canada originally to visit family and met her now-husband. They decided to get married and return to Canada, receiving her permanent residency in 2006. Since having a baby, she wants to find a job with more stable hours and benefits to balance work and family. Over two counseling sessions, we explored her dream of owning a cafe someday and identified online courses to improve her English and career prospects, such as office jobs at the local hospital. The counseling process helped provide clarity and direction for her next steps while allowing her to balance career goals with family responsibilities.

Reboot Podcast #37 - Are you a Servant Leader - with Patrick Campbell on Rebo...rebootio
For leaders the temptation to tell, fix, and even do is so strong. “I know the way,” or “I have the answers,” or “the buck stops with me.” Sometimes it’s impossible to resist the ego boost of providing the answer, giving the fix, telling the way. But what impact does this have on the team, and ourselves? And is it even true?
Jerry Colonna is joined today by Patrick Campbell, co-founder and CEO of Price Intelligently – a bootstrapped company in Boston. Patrick and Jerry explore different leadership styles, the power of “if I die docs,” and how the secret to leadership, and servant leadership, may not lie in having the right answers, but instead asking the right questions.
This document provides advice for husbands on how to honor their wives through loving words and actions. It discusses how Gary Smalley initially did not realize how his extended book tour was negatively impacting his wife Norma and their marriage. It was only after speaking to Norma that he understood she felt like a lower priority and was hurting emotionally from him being gone. The document emphasizes that husbands should consider how their commitments and actions might affect their wives, and that it is important to discuss major decisions with wives before committing to things. It also discusses how a husband's words can have powerful effects on emotionally building up or tearing down their wife.
The client is a 30-year-old woman from Hungary who obtained permanent resident status in Canada in 2009. She values family above all else and her priorities have changed since giving birth, as she now wants to work to live instead of living to work in order to spend more time with her daughter. Her goals are to further develop her English skills and work in office support at a hospital while taking a job she doesn't love to financially support her family as she pursues her dream career. Barriers to achieving her goals include her language skills, lack of education, not knowing the equivalency of her Hungarian education in Canada, restrictions due to having a newborn, and the counselor's lack of experience.

Making Aging Positive
Senior citizens count for a great deal of the American population and are an essential part of society. Many perspectives come with old age with some affecting the old individual's way of life and other improving the elderly way of life. The paper discusses the contribution of to Linda P Fried article Making Aging Positive, and the Carpenter et al. journal and my own beliefs in understanding the various perspectives that come with the old age.
From the article Making Aging Positive, it provides reasons why old age comes with a lot of challenges. However, there are qualms concerning the efficiency of this group of people in workplaces. According to Fried, the main point that is being enforced is or make the extra years that come with improved life expectancy into good use (3). I agree on this but still how experienced can the elderly individuals be at critical positions in the workplaces. It turns into the most profound angle of uncertainty to say that a group of retired people would be more efficient than the younger ones, however, experienced they are.
The article Making Aging Positive it explains that at old age the connection between the senses of individuals is very active with a lot of experience. While people are troubled with the medical expenses on the elderly, this can help in making strides on the issues. This brings the thought of why the elderly should retire yet they can still work in the offices feel appreciated and live longer. According to Fried Linda, the elderly should not retire just because they have hit their age ceiling and should be left to work until when they will not be able to work anymore. The questions generated here are ambiguous but addresses a genuine concern on the dynamics of the content that are provided by the author.
The issue that is raised by Fried is very authentic and if not addressed well turns into a crisis. The population pyramids of most of the developed nations in the world now have a broader top. Many scientists have raised concerns over various challenges that may come with more people being old for example economic collapse of a country due to the inadequate workforce and the purchase blocks. The solution to curbing these challenge includes the idea of the population aging positively. The connection may not be clear, but the correlation is more realistic.
My grandmother is one of the oldest people and works as a public officer and likes sewing baskets. When she retired, there was need of her to always being active thus we opened for a weaving site, and this made her maintain a good health and therefore less medical expenses. The article Making Aging Positive gave me a quick connection to the relationship between the health of the granny and the post-retirement work.

The document discusses the challenges facing trailing spouses who relocate with their partner for their career. It describes how trailing spouses often give up their own careers and lose their professional identities in the process. They struggle with isolation and lack of fulfillment without a job or social connections in the new country. While financially supported by their partner, many trailing spouses experience loss of independence and feelings of being uprooted from their home and identity.

The ability to view ourselves from an unbiased perspective allows us to critically assess our personal strengths and weaknesses. This is an important step in the process of finding the right resources for our personal learning style. Ego and pride can be a hard thing to overcome, but I have found that reaching out for help provides endless benefits. I have found myself hesitant to ask for help in a professional setting. Because I am much younger than many of my coworkers, I feel a constant need to prove my worth. I feel as though my asking for help can be interpreted as an inability to perform my job duties effectively. I have since found out that this is not the case and in return, I am better equipped to do my job. If we are able to overcome the fear of putting our pride aside and asking for help, we will reap many benefits on the path to success. Overall, the ability to focus on the right things allows us to be better prepared to take advantage of critical opportunities.
After reviewing the multitude of online amenities provided at SNHU I feel better prepared to continue my work as a student. I plan on utilizing the Smarthinking 24-hour tutoring service as well as the drop off paper review. I think this is an amazing resource to have available that encourages students to ask for help when it is needed. The ability to get help from our peers is a tool I believe to be instrumental to success. It is reassuring to know that I have multiple resources at my disposal during this time in which I continue to further my education.

I think being able to use resources to help you succeed is a great characteristic to have. Sometimes in the past I have been too stubborn in my ways to be able to ask for help or use resources to help me and have not done as well as I had intended.
I think knowing more about you will allow you to be able to choose the right resources, because knowing the most about yourself allows you to know which resources you will benefit the most from. I have always struggled in math; it has never been my strong suit. When I first attempted to go to college right after I graduated from high school, I really struggled with the math course I was assigned. My school provided us with a resource called Math Lab. It was mandatory to complete one hour a week there. However, when I knew I needed more time and more assistance with what I was learning I decided not to reach out for help. Looking back, I am not sure why I refused to use more resources. I think I would have been more successful at my first attempt at college if I put my pride to the side .

BarriersI foundfromour counsellingsessions,because she hasanewborn,schedulingtimeto
meetwashard to setin stone. She cancelledfourtimesoutof the 2 timeswe met.Beinga
motherof 3, I couldrelate tono sleepandsickkidsbutit washard for me to manage other
prioritiesbasedoncancellations.Icouldsee how thiscouldbe a challenge asa careercounselor
interms of schedulingappointments. My solutionforthis asa counsellorwouldbe tobe more
flexible andtomake sure I take intoaccount that there will be cancellations, havingalternative
workwiththe understandingthatthismayhappenwouldcause lessfrustration.Anotherbarrier
ismy lack of experience asa counsellor –I dofindmy skillshave beenincreasingoverthe
durationof thiscourse but I believewithacontinuationof practice mycomfortlevel will
inevitablyincreasewhichwouldin turn,allow forsmothertransitionsfromone topictothe next
and less urgencytotry to solve the issue.
