This document discusses living a disciplined life through faith in God. It contains the following key points:
1) A disciplined life is about accomplishing goals and winning the spiritual race, not living in fear under the law.
2) To live disciplined, one must live under grace through Jesus, receive power from the Holy Spirit, and remain in Jesus through obeying his commandments out of love.
3) The power of the Holy Spirit gives believers self-discipline and the ability to press on. In contrast, living under the law can only show sin but not remove it. Grace through Jesus provides forgiveness and makes one a child of God.

Spiritual growth is detailed in 2 Peter 1:3-8, "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
As we continue to explore the purpose of prayer and fasting, we are also creating some opportunities for Christians to practice these disciplines. This lesson delivered by Wayne Cornwell on May 3 outlines several suggestions.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
