The Welsh government is fully committed to funding IT professional apprenticeships for new and existing staff aged 16-24 to obtain qualifications like City & Guilds and CompTIA. Businesses can have their existing IT support staff receive updated training through the program. Alternatively, businesses can consider recruiting an IT apprentice to provide additional support. The apprenticeships offer nationally recognized qualifications over 12-16 months and include options like software development, networking, and security apprenticeship programs.

1. Enhanced IT Apprenticeship
IT, Software, Web and Telecoms
The Welsh Government recognise the importance of IT Professionals and are therefore fully committed to
funding IT Professional Apprenticeships for both new and existing staff aged 16-24. This means that any of
your IT Support Staff will benefit from up to date training from which they will achieve a Level 3 City & Guilds
qualification for IT Professionals, together with an industry recognised qualification from CompTIA, Microsoft
and other vendor providers
If you don't have staff who may directly benefit from this training programme, then you may wish to consider
recruiting an IT Apprentice to provide additional support to your business.

2. Enhanced IT Apprenticeship

Programme Information:
We currently have three apprenticeship programmes at level 3 running for existing staff or for new staff
following the apprenticeship programme.
 IT Systems, Networking and Telecoms
 Software and Web Development
 IT Security
Funding:
16 - 24 year olds, this course is free to you and your employer
Entry Requirements:
Ideally 5 GCSEs (C and above) or equivalent, including Maths and English
Duration: 12 - 16 months
Salary: Dependant on employer
Training:
Training is delivered using a variety of methods, including one-one tuition, classroom based, self study and
webinars.
Self study (E-learning) and additional workshops for your chosen vendor qualification.
