OS1 Aaron L. Roll is commended for his exemplary performance of duty while assigned to Coast Guard Sector San Diego from 2011 to 2013. As an Operations Unit controller, he aggressively responded to search and rescue cases, assisting 109 people in distress and saving $13.8 million in property. He also helped manage 31 law enforcement cases that led to the seizure of over 5,500 pounds of marijuana worth $22 million. Additionally, he coordinated a successful medical evacuation of 3 injured passengers from a disabled yacht over 400 nautical miles off the coast of California.
