Warrant Officer Cyril Paton and three other police officers were assigned to provide close protection to the Brazilian national football team during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The head of security for the Brazilian team wrote to thank the South African Police Service for the excellent job Warrant Officer Paton did integrating his police group and ensuring the safety and security of the Brazilian delegation. Warrant Officer Paton was efficient, understood their needs quickly, and helped the Brazilian team work well with other police forces in South Africa. The Brazilian team had no security incidents during the World Cup thanks to the high quality of the South African police, including Warrant Officer Paton and his colleagues.
