I wouldlike toshare mypersonal experience workingwithMaliece Sorrowsoverthe yearsinthe
StudentHousingindustry. Ihave servedasanonsite PropertyManageras well asa Regional Manager
withvariouscompaniesoverthe past18 years. Utilitybillinghasalwaysbeenanissue thatwe justdon’t
have enoughtime tomanage properly. WhenIfirstbeganinthe industry,asa PropertyManager,I had
to take time eachmonthand read watermeters,thendividethe costamongthe numberof residentsin
a unit,handle billingforeachresident,handle complaintsfromsaidresidents,andcollectfromeach
resident. Ialsohadto take the powerbillsanddivide thoseamongthe numberof residents,bill the
residents,handle complaintsandcollections. Thisalone tookabout3/4th
of mytime permonthand was
causingmy 40 hourweektoturn intoa 60 hourweekveryquickly andconsistently.
Maliece hasbeenmy“go to” personwhenitcame to utilitybilling once acompanyI workedforat the
time wenttousingthe third- party billingcompany. She istrulyanexpertinthe matter. She knowsall
the insand out of savingsforcompaniesandresidentsalikeandshe hasalwaysworkedhardto expand
our knowledgebyresearchingandthenrecommendingbetteroptionsonbulkpackages,provider
selectionsandprojectsthatcouldbe completedonapropertytosave both residentsandproperty
ownersmoneyeachmonth. Bytakingher knowledgeandimplementingthe processesshe hassupplied
to us,we savedtime andmoneyjustbyhavingthe billingoutsourced. Asapart of owneroperator
companies,Ihave seenareductionof the time spentbyonsite staff spentonutilitybillingreduced
manyhours perweekwhichsavescompaniesmoneyandallowsmanagersandotherstaff membersto
be able to complete othertasksthatleadto residentretention(whichalsosavescompaniesmoney).
Maliece hasalwaystakenthe time to personallyreachouttomanagers,anduppermanagementof the
companiesIhave beena part of to see how thingswere going,offeringadditional support, trainingand
recommendationstoevenfurtherreduce the companiestime andstresslevel concerningutilitybilling
and collections. Ihave neverhadthat kindof service fromotherbillingrepresentativesof anykind! Her
customerservice istopnotchand her willingnessto gothe extramile tohelpme to understand
processes,reportsthatwere available tome,calculationsof saidbillings,etc.which andhasbeen
unmeasurable.
