To Whom It Might Concern:
RE: REFERENCE LETTER FOR HELOISE BESTER
MFM 92.6 is a youth community radio station based in Stellenbosch in the Western Cape, South
Africa. We aim to provide a service that educates, informs and entertains our audience. We
operate a professionally run organization that is skills based and people-orientated. As station
manager, I have come to know Heloise Bester as employee, presenter and producer.
Heloise Bester is currently involved with MFM 92.6, where she has fulfilled a number of roles in the
past few years. She has been a presenter and producer of the MFM 92.6 team since 2010 when
she applied as a trainee producer and presenter with the eye on obtaining a presenting slot. Ms
Bester successfully proceeded through MFM’s 3-stage interview process and was chosen to
undergo MFM’s comprehensive 2-month training programme. This is a well-respected programme
in South African radio circles with the eye on creating a multitalented, well-rounded MFM staff
member, who is capable of addressing a variety of situations and tasks.
Ms Bester presented a morning (03h00 – 06h00) show once a week until the start of 2011, after
which she moved to a better show on the weekend from 14h00 – 17h00. Ms Bester progressed
even further in 2012 to the Sunday evening show from 21h00 – 00h00, which is one of the most
popular weekend shows, which she presented until the end of 2013. Ms Bester has gotten along
well with all of her different co-hosts on the different shows.
Her involvement at MFM doesn’t stop on air. In 2012 Ms Bester started recording gig guides using
her own voice for MFM, which we run on a daily basis. She continued the important tasks of
sourcing and recording the gig guides in 2013 as well as joining the News and Sports committee
as she has a passion for sports.
The concept of communication, debate, discussion and skill transfer as vital tools of leadership is
extremely important and something that Heloise values highly. This is evident not only from her
involvement at MFM but her involvement and in other areas of her life. Ms Bester is always open
to new learning opportunities. This allows her to make the most of any new situation.
The world of radio demands constant innovation and this is something that Ms Bester is able to
confidently and constantly provide. Ms Bester is a diligent, intelligent and skillful person and will
surely create a lot of value wherever and with whomever she is involved with.
These combinations are surely an indication that Ms Bester is an excellent candidate for any
opportunity that she might pursue. I therefore strongly suggest that Ms Bester receive due
consideration for whatever it is that she wishes to apply for.
