Mass is the amount of matter in an object, which is measured using a balance scale. Weight is a measure of the gravitational force on an object, which depends on both its mass and location. To measure an object's mass, it is placed on one side of a balance scale while objects of known mass are placed on the other side to balance it out.

an object. It not only depends on the object's

weight is actually a measure of force.

A more accurate way to classify objects by
their mass is to measure their mass using a
platform balance. To find the mass of an
object, you must place the object on one pan
of the platform balance. On the other pan,
place some objects of known mass.
