2. Smartboard Lesson Plan:
Jeopardy
● http://exchange.smarttech.com/details.html?id=1903b709-c359-4676-a6e2-44aee90b032c
● The Lesson Plan I chose from the SMART exchange was Jeopardy. The target learners
would be college freshman psychology majors. I would intend to use it in the psychology
introduction course, PSY 111.
3. What exactly is Jeopardy?
● For those who don’t know, originally, Jeopardy is a classic game show where there are six
categories and three rounds. Usually the answers are given first once a category is chosen
and then the contestants give the answer. The third round, final jeopardy is when the
contestants bet their winnings (as much as they want) and lay it all on the line for one final
question.
● Jeopardy has been used in many classrooms as a fun way to engage students in team
building exercises, test preparation, and chapter reviews.
4. Jeopardy in the Classroom
● I would use this as a final exam review in the classroom.
● For this to meet Universal Design, I would make the
lesson plan more reachable to all students. I would write
the questions down on a worksheet for students to have
in front of them and also for those that do not have
English as a first language, I would adapt the questions
into more simple phrases for them.
5. Other Resources & How I Would
Use Them
Some other resources I found that would be helpful with planning my lesson plan would be…
● The Universal Design for Learning Lesson Building- I would use this because it provides a
lot of different quality lesson plan templates and it provides the framework for create
flexible lesson plans.
● Google Docs- This offers planners, lesson plan templates, and you can share documents with
anyone and everyone with a google account and it saves automatically. It seems so much
more useful than people give it credit.
● K-12 readers also caught my eyes as a good resource that I would use to plan my lesson plan
as it gives teacher the option to use unit specific or multi-subject templates. This would
definitely support Universal Design as well because it lets you include less or more
information depending on how you want to present it. Student with language difficulties
and disabilities could benefit from different, more simplified lesson plans with this.
6. The Lesson Plan Itself
The following would be my lesson plan. (not as detailed as I would actually make it)
Objective- By the end of this activity, students will have reviewed the material
covered in the last three units for the final exam.
Duration- The entire class period
Procedure- Group students into groups of 3-5 with each group taking turns answering
questions. Keep track of scores as game goes on.
Goal- This activity calls for the assessment of each student working together in
groups since it is not individual. It can also be fun because there is an element of
competition which can make students try harder to win.
7. In Conclusion
● Overall, I would make the lesson plan as adaptable as
possible to all the students to the best of my ability.
● I would use Jeopardy as the primary template for my
lesson plan, but I would also use the other resources that
I found to help make it as universal to all students as
possible.
