2. What are the different
tools that we had
discussed yesterday?
3. How would we make
sure our safety while
doing gardening?
4. Guess who!
I am a young
plant sporophyte
developing out of a
plant embryo from
a seed. Who am I?
5. SEEDLING

seed

Seedling development starts
with germination of the seed
7. 1.Thin Seedlings as needed!
Plants in your
garden do not like
to be crowded. Put
your seedlings, who
need all the sun and
nutrients that they
can get.
8. 2. Give them plenty of light!
As soon as the newborn seedling begins to
emerge, it seeks light. Your newborn needs
as much and as direct a light source as
possible.
9. 3. Keep the seedlings moist!
Provide water to your seedling every couple of
days. Do not soak the soil each night. Overly wet
soil encourages the development of damping off
disease. Let the soil dry out a little on the top,
then water thoroughly.
10. 4. Fertilize if needed!
Occasionally it is helpful to fertilize your
potted plants. You can purchase water-
soluble fertilizers to mix in your watering
can and apply as you water.
11. 5. Keep your plants free of pests and
dust!
You can prevent health issues
with your plants by cleaning
them with a soft rag and
organic insecticide soap every
few months. If you notice that
your plants seem particularly
dusty or ill looking, take extra
care and clean them a bit more
often, moving them to a new
location if necessary.
12. 6. Remove unhealthy growth!
Although your plants are
potted and indoors, that
doesn’t prevent them from
growing to a large size and
becoming ill at times. Use a
small pair of gardening shears
to trim off excess growth and
to cut away sick parts of the
plant.
Sporophyte means new generation
Germination means pagtubo/pagsibol ng halaman
You may place it by a window with a southern exposure. You should also acquire an artificial Grow Light and place the seedlings under it on cloudy days and at night.
Watering from the bottom is preferred. If you have a seed tray, add water to the bottom of the tray . The soil will absorb it through the bottom holes in your container.
