I came to Australia in 1981 after completing my electrical apprenticeship in Scotland.
My career began in Sydney with WB Whiteford, an electrical contracting company specializing in Commercial/Industrial
Refrigeration and Air-conditioning. They were a family company and I remained with them for 6 yrs. ending my employment as
at foreman level.
Still in Sydney, I commence employment with CMS Electrical Pty Ltd as a Supervising Foreman. The projects with this company
were predominantly in Industrial Control Systems but also included refrigeration and air-conditioning within their remit. I
worked on projects such as Master Foods Processing Plant Wyong, Qantas 747 Aircraft Cleaning Crane Controls and Sydney
Airport Baggage Handling System Controls. During my 6yrs with CMS my work involved CAD Drawing, Tendering and Project
Supervision.
My next move was north to Brisbane where I obtained my Electrical Contractor License and started my own company, C&A
Electrical Pty Ltd, which I ran for approx. 10yrs. I worked in the mechanical services field during this time which included
commercial and industrial Air-conditioning, Exhaust Systems, Smoke Ex Systems, Stair Pressurization Systems and Building
Management Controls. C & A Electrical ceased trading 2003 after sustaining substantial losses due to the collapse of three
Mechanical Contractor over a 12mth period. The company did not go into liquidation or receivership, all debts were paid and we
ceased trading.
At this time I was offered a position of Commissioning Technician with Innotech BMS Controls with whom I worked for 12mths.
I was then approached by GTEC Electrical Services Pty Ltd and offered the position of Electrical Foreman, which very quickly led
to the position of Manager/Estimator for the company. During my 10yrs employment I successfully tendered the following
various projects, which I estimate value of $17.5 Million.
