1.1 A review of systems , policies and procedures for communicating information of
health and safety in the home in the accordance with the legislative requiremwnts
Here in this study we will be focussing on policies systems and other
procedures which are available to the safety and health care organizations
which they need to maintain health and safety procedures and policies
which they need to maintain as per the regulation of the authorities that
are responsible for managing the health care and safety in the health care
industry.
As per regulation enacted by the National Healthcare services as well as
Health and safety executive the creation of health and safety policy
document in the health and social organization is mandatory. As per the
health and safety act 1974 when a healthcare organization is founded and
if it consist of more than 5 employees working in the organization then it is
the responsibility of the management to have a safety policy should be
created for the organization. In this policy, it should be mentioned the
health and safety actions taken by the management when an accident
occurs in the organization or any emergency accident situation arises (NHS

All the health care homes and social care organizations should have risk
assessment documents created simultaneously mentioning the health and
safety procedure. As per the regulation of health and safety executive and
national health service(NHS 2015). In the risk assessment document, all
the health-related risks should be identified properly in the document and
all sorts of risks in the working environment should be identified and
should be assessed according to their potential harm. On the basis of that
action should be taken to reduce the chances hazards and risks as far as
possible.
The reporting of the Injuries, Dangerous occurrences, Regulation and
disease (RIDDOR) was introduced in 2013 which has included the provision
of health and social care as per the norms of RIDDOR procedure. All the

Health care organizations today uses graphical pictures to communicate
the health care related issue to the government .For, example directions of
the exit fire, not keeping inflammable articles are demonstrated in a
pictorial form to communicate the chances of injuries and hazards that
may occur due to lack of safety precautionary measures to influence safety
in the health care organization. These methods are considered to be very
much effective in the health care industry as graphical sign boards has the
capacity to draw the attention of the large number of people and can
easily convey the message to the target audience very easily as there is no
language barrier. If any one does not understand English then also they
can understand graphical sign boards that warns about safety.
6. Task1.2 An assessment of the responsibilities in the home for the
management of health and safety in relation to organizational
structure –diagram or flow chart.
In UK safety and health care policy in health care work place is generally
planned by the non government and government institutions. The
government of UK possesses public health care system and health care. As
per this system of the government, the responsibilities are distributed first
to the local authorities in the scenario of failure of their performance to
the department of health. Service providers and takers have included
here clinical commission groups and boards NHS commissioning board
here monitors the responsibilities of public health. This system is
considered as the integrated system in the health and safety in the health
and social care workplace to maintain the safety standards.
Management is considered to be the another most important issue in the
health and safety care workplace for maintaining health and safety
parameters . As safety and health care includes two most important points

techniques to remove the chances of health hazards in social care work place
by identifying the cause and removing it on a constant basis.
Controlling the risk:-Encourage the attitudes using techniques and influencing
the behavior to control the potential risk.
So, the responsibilities in relation to the safety and health of the management
in the health and social care work place can be assessed by taking the example
of Mr. Patrick who is suffering from dementia. In this case Study we have
monitored that Mr. Patrick is a 74 year old builder from UK who has been in a
home for few weeks. He is a very large man with 6 feet 4 inches tall in height.
The weight of him is around 15 stones. He is suffering from osteoarthritis and
has tremendous pain in his knee. This actually affects his ability to
mobilise freely in the home. Unfortunately he has fallen and he was
provided the Zimmer frame for his mobility. The main problem here is
that he feels irritated when ever he was provided Zimmer to walk with.
So, now it is the responsibility of the management of the home and the
care giver arises equally

They need to convince him with patience that it is good for him to take the
help of the Zimmer for his free mobility. So that his ailment get cured and
he also enjoy the pleasure of mobility in his own feet.
Now let’s see the flow chart of the work pattern here from the manager as
well as the care giver. Flowchart of the organization structure.
9. 1.3 An analysis of health and safety priorities appropiate for the
home in the park & risk assessment
Different service providers maintains different form of safety priorities depending on the
requirement of the patient. But in the health and safety work place there are certain
things needed to be implemented in the health care work place to perform the task

In the context of the Safety issues :-
To take the disabled individual to a safe place where there is no risky
electric line present.
To take that individual to a safe place from that is in a fire safety region if
he or she is a smoker.
Not to allow that individual to take any sorts of drug.
The work place should be free from the presence of any dangerous tool.
For such an individual some specific information is essential which can
trigger the improvement of health of a disabled person from the part of
the management.
Service transparency must be ensured from the organizations end.
In social care organization’s work place public access must be guaranteed.
Choice availability and effective sources must be ensured.
Proper relationship and communication must be maintained between the
service taker and service provider.
11. 2.1 Analysis on how Information from Risk Assessment informs
Care Planning for Individuals and Organizational Decision making
about Policies and Procedures
In the health and safety context information on health and social care on
the work place services plays an important part in taking , providing and
getting the services. It can be of different form organizational decision
making context individual care planning as well. Only by making risk
assessment this information can be collected. Risk assessment dentifies to
proper identification of hazards and cause of potential severity from each
hazard. It also involves proper calculation of risk, reappraising and
monitoring the risk and controlling the risk. The information which can be
sorted from the risk assessment can prove to be beneficial for
organizational decision making policies and procedure regarding individual
care planning. So risk assessment must include the following points as
stated below:-
To identify the main measures of risk control.
To review and amend the JSA personnel are required.
In accordance with the modern industries HSEC procedures it should be
maintained.
12. Continued….
All the hazards must be controlled.
Any of the residual risk is mitigated by reasonable practicable.
So information on the basis of assessment of risk can be a helpful option for
decision making of individual care planning on the basis of organization policies
and procedures.
To know about the care services of various health care institutions.
To understand the better health and social care providers .
To appreciate the services provided by the health and social care institutions.
To fetch the understanding of getting maximum provision for care at a
minimum cost.
Organizational decision making context:-
It will helpful the organization to maintain the health and social care policies
and procedures if they know the information on risk assessment properly.
They can also become very much cautious about their right and their client
right.
13. 3.3 Evaluate how you would place the health and safety needs of an
individual like Mr Patrick at the centre of your nursing home
From the point of view of an individual and professional point of view the
responsibility and evaluation can be done .Mr. Patrick ‘s health related
problem can be solved by avoiding the risk factor from individual’s
contribution.
By identifying the hazards, knowing the risk factor, and knowing the
responsibilities from the stand point of professional level my nursing
home can evaluate and sort the problem of Mr Patrick. So an evaluation
model is given in the next slide to explain it more clearly.
15. Conclusion
Thus from the above case study it can be easily highlighted that what are
the precautionary measures need to be taken while maintaining a nursing
home or any health care organization. Therefore every health and safety
organization need to maintain the norms of health related problems.
