This document proposes incentives to increase participation in a speed pitch game at a baseball stadium. It suggests offering prizes to winners to psychologically shift the cost-benefit analysis of participants by making the reward greater than the cost. Specific proposals include offering a $5 photo of fans with their speed shown for additional motivation. A hashtag would allow photos to be shared on social media, and the top speeds of the day could be featured on a dedicated Instagram account to further promote the fan zone.
2. In monetary situations, people subconsciously
perform a cost-benefit analysis or a risk-reward
calculation. Naturally, customers desire financial
situations where the benefit/reward outweighs
the cost/risk. In this case, although the reward
may be measured in terms of satisfaction,
the $3 cost exceeds the low reward, and thus
lures fans away. The most evident way to entice
fans to participate is by creating an incentive;
one in which the reward supersedes the cost.
Fans should have the opportunity to win prizes
by participating in the speed pitch game.
This method by which we provide a reward
to the winner will psychologically create a
new formulation in a person's cost-benefit
analysis, and thus entice more people to
participate.

Description: An inexpensive photo that
fans can purchase after participating in the
fast pitch zone. The photo shows the
participant with his/her top speed in the
upper-right corner. All pictures are emailed.
A complementary social media photo will
be included as well.

Description:
Fans love to upload and share their pictures
on social media platforms. We should
create and provide a specific hashtag that
fans can use on these platforms. As a
result, all the “speed pitch” pictures will be
archived together in a designated area
where anyone can view them.

7. We should create a fan zone-focused
Instagram account to share pictures
of participants who have the day’s
top speeds.
Guests who already paid for the
separate $5 fan photo package will
have their pictures uploaded free.
Occasional family and fanatic photos
will be uploaded. Lastly, the account
may be used as a marketing tool to
create awareness of the stadium’s fan
zone and attract new fans.
