24. LEED Green Associate
• Designed for generalist vs. direct LEED project management
• Exam: 2.5 hour Tier 1 exam – demonstrate core green building
knowledge
• Not a focus on LEED credits and points
• Eligibility:
• Agree to Disciplinary Policy + credential maintenance guidelines
• Be employed in a sustainable field of work or engaged in an
education program in green building principals and LEED
• Submit to application audit (5-7% of all apps)
• 15 Hours of Continuing Education every 2 years, with 3 hours
obtained from an approved program specific to the LEED rating
system

26. LEED AP+
• Designed for a LEED subject matter expert and contributor to a project in
more than a supportive roll, e.g., does calculations, designs and builds
• Exams: Tier 1 and Tier 2 Exam: total 4 hours: core knowledge (Tier 1) +
SPECIALIZATION
• Eligibility:
• Agree to Disciplinary Policy + credential maintenance guidelines
• Document work on a LEED project within the last 2-3 years with
verification through LEED Online
• Can become LEED Green Associate first, then take Tier 2 exam to become
AP+
• 30 Hours of Continuing Education every 2 years, with 6 hours obtained
from an approved program specific to the LEED rating system

27. Legacy AP
• Legacy AP’s automatically become AP+ in their area
of specialty
• Must register for current NC or CI exam by March 31,
2009
• Current exams available to take until ~ June (exact
date to be announced soon)
• Must “opt-in” by June 2011 to new LEED AP+
disciplinary policy, and Credentialing Maintenance
Program (continuing education)

LEED AP Fellow – Tier 3
• Eligibility: Major Contribution to the standards of
practice and body of knowledge for achieving
continuous improvement in the field of green
building
• Signing disciplinary policy and agreeing to
credential maintenance
• Peer review of project portfolio
• Other requirements under development
