Half of the electricity produced by CEB is produced by this Lakvijaya power plant
900MW power is generated from this plant.
Coal is exported from these countries such as indonesia, south africa, and Russiya.
Coal is transported from the jetty to the coal yard and from there to the main plant by a belt system.
Water spray methods are used to maintain moisture in coal
The coal bundles coming from the coal yard are pulverized well by some machines, mixed with air and released into the boiler.
There, the thermal energy generated by the combustion is absorbed by the tubes in the boiler and turns into steam
The electricity produced by the generators connected to the turbines is transmitted to the power stations through an h2 plant.
The gas coming out of coal combustion is first removed by ESP and then the harmful sulfur dioxide in the gas is removed by a device called FGD

The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).
AI Trends in Creative Operations 2024 by Artwork Flow.pdfmarketingartwork
Creative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool currently. Business leaders are more actively exploring AI benefits than individual contributors. Most respondents do not believe AI will impact workforce size in 2024. However, some inhibitions still exist around AI accuracy and lack of understanding. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Organizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

Google's Just Not That Into You: Understanding Core Updates & Search IntentLily Ray
1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.

Research Methodology in Geography
Sampling
K. L. Wathsala Gunathilake
Lecturer
Department of Geography
University of Kelaniya
2. Outline of the Lecture
• What is sampling
• Why do we need sampling?
• Important concepts in sampling
• Types of sampling
• Simple Random Sampling
• Steps in Random Sampling
• Advantages and Disadvantages
• Stratified Sampling
• Cluster Sampling
3. What is Sampling
• Sampling is a process of
selecting a small number of
elements from a larger defined
target group of elements.
• The information gathered from
the sample will allow
judgements to be made about
the population (Estimations)
4. Important concepts in sampling
Population A comprehensive group of individuals,
Institutions, objects having common
characteristics that are the interest of a researcher
Census
(Parameters
)
Sample Representative group of individuals, Institutions
from a particular population
Survey
(Statistics)
Sampling Process of drawing a representative group of
individuals/elements from a particular population
Sampling
Error
The variation between the means of sample groups
and population means
5. Sampling frame
A sampling frame is list of all members of a population
•Selection to suit research objectives
•Including the entire population of research
•Including one observation unit only once
•Should be suitable for the period of research
6. Sampling unit නියැදි ඒකකය
A sampling unit is an individual members of a sample
Separate units shown in a sample frame are sample units. In research,
data is obtained from one of them. These units selected should
represent the entire population. If the unit of choice is family, it
should include information about all members of the family.
7. Observation unit
An observation unit is a unit of research to collect data.
Sometimes the data is collected using the observation units
rather than directly from the sample. For example, obtaining
information on a family unit from the householder. Then the
housekeeper is the observation unit.
8. Sample Size
There are no rules about sample size. The number of samples to choose
depends on how accurately the population parameters are expected to be
measured by the researcher at a selected confidence level. It is a decision that
the researcher must make.
If the census is not so large, the sample size can be reduced. If the population
is abnormal, the sample size should be increased. Generally it is advisable to
choose at least 10% of the population, which is preferable to between 15%
and 20%.
The sample size may vary depending on the nature and requirement of the
research. The sample size may also vary depending on the methodology,
time, labor and age of the data collection.
9. Why sample? නියැදිය ඇයි?
Because there is very rarely enough time
or money to gather information from
everyone or everything in a population,
the goal becomes finding a representative
sample (or subset) of that population.
10. The Sampling Process
The sampling process comprises several stages:
•Defining the population of concern
•Specifying a sampling frame, a set of items or events possible to measure
•Specifying a sampling method for selecting items or events from the frame
•Determining the sample size
•Implementing the sampling plan
•Sampling and data collecting
•Reviewing the sampling process
12. Simple Random Sampling
• Every subset of a specified size n from the population has an equal chance of being selected
• There are several strategies used to select a random sample. These include the lottery
method, the random numbering system, computer-based sampling, the turning of pages of a
book, the tossing of a coin and the rotating of the roulette wheel.
Random Sampling Steps
• Determine the sample to achieve the goals of the research through the census of the
research.
• The research framework and sample units should be prepared. Sample units should be
numbered as 1,2,3, ...
• An appropriate number of sample units should be determined according to the research.
• You need to randomly select as many samples as possible, without any special effects.
13. Advantages and disadvantages of simple random sampling
In the hierarchical small population, which is divided into segments, a good
representation can be obtained when selecting a sample under the random
sampling method. Such random sampling methods are widely used in research
and other purposes when selecting a small sample.

As the population grows, the random numbers or the lottery system make it
difficult to make lists of large numbers. Also, random sampling cannot be used
when the population is divided into sections and the heterogeneous population.
Then another suitable sampling method should be used.

14. Stratified Random Sample
The population is divided into two or more groups called strata,
according to some criterion, such as geographic location, grade
level, age, or income, and subsamples are randomly selected from
each strata.

15. If the survey population is disproportionate, the random layer sampling
method allows the selection of sample units from each of the layers,
separated into homogeneous layers. That is, the survey population can
be divided into several layers. Such layers can be identified as rural,
urban, female and male, Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim. Thus, the
Stratified Random sampling method is used to select a sample to
represent the different layers within the research population.

17. Cluster Sample
The population is divided into subgroups
(clusters) like families. A simple random
sample is taken of the subgroups and then all
members of the cluster selected are surveyed.
17
18. A cluster sample is also known as a file sample. It is called
a cluster or file because it is a sample file or cluster based
sample. The first step is to create a large group of files and
re-sample them. This is an easy-to-use trick when it comes
to getting all the information about the population.

18
19. Cluster sampling can be used to efficiently select a sample
when the population is spread over a large area and then divide
it into sections. A large number of census units form a cluster.
A few clusters form the entire population. A few clusters can
be selected as a sample to study the sample units of these
clusters. Random numbers can be used to select sample units
in the selected clusters.

23. Snowball Sampling
Snowball sampling is a method in which a researcher
identifies one member of some population of interest,
speaks to him/her, then asks that person to identify
others in the population that the researcher might
speak to. This person is then asked to refer the
researcher to yet another person, and so on.

Quota sampling requires that representative
individuals are chosen out of a specific subgroup.
For example, a researcher might ask for a sample of
100 females, or 100 individuals between the ages of
20-30.
