Learn to Swim Front Crawl “ I wanna be like Mike”
Learner Description Teenager beginners.  Learners have one year prior experience with swimming instruction.
Delivery System Assigned Classroom with books, computers, internet, and projectors
Pre-Instructional Activities  View video montage of  Michael Phelps  Describe objective: Students will be able to demonstrate and describe the technique of the front crawl given a desk similar to the technique in the video. Toss pair of goggles around-discuss what students already know about front crawl. Prerequisite skills: floating face down in water, alternating arm strokes
Content Presentation Front Crawl  demonstration 1- includes push off Front crawl  demonstration 2-  Ian Thorpe-  breathing Ian Thorpe-  underwater side view Ian Thorpe-  front view Examples and non examples? Other coach comes in at this point instead of at the end
Learner Participation Give each student the opportunity to practice the stroke using a desk, and allow other students to critique their performance in groups of two as teacher circulates. Allow time for students to rehearse their descriptions of stroke. Teacher observes practice and descriptions and provides feedback as necessary.
Assessment Summative: Students demonstrate and describe technique.
