The League of Corinth was a political and military organization established by Philip II of Macedon in 338/337 BC. Its purpose was to create political stability in Greece by having participating states swear to observe a Common Peace. As leader of the League, Philip was able to consolidate his power over Greece and position himself as commander-in-chief for a planned campaign against Persia, allowing him to expand Macedonian influence. However, the autonomy of Greek states was limited by Philip's control over the League as hegemon.
