To Tim Hudak, Ontario Leader of the Official Opposition,
I am writing in support of the Wine and Beer Convenience Campaign and urge you consider the merits
of making wine and beer available to responsible adults at Ontario convenience stores.
More than 63 percent of Ontarians want the convenience of wine and beer in their neighborhood stores
and I am firmly among them.
Further, I support the Ontario Convenience Store Association’s position that wine and beer be available
in their members’ stores – stores that contribute $15 billion to our economy and employ 50,000
Ontarians.
As a responsible adult, I have joined the growing number of Ontarians who feel it’s time to change
liquor laws that belong to a long-gone era in this province – laws that no longer reflect a changing
society, competitive business practices, the rights of taxpayers or the will of voters.
Your demonstrated support for private VQA wine stores is a positive indication you and you and your
party favour liquor law change in Ontario.
Respectfully, I ask you to take this under consideration as your party campaigns in advance of the
October 6, 2011 provincial election.
