1. A. I went into arc catalog and imported the hopewell roads, polygon and land cover
into my lab6 geodatabase
B. I added my layers and made a selection of forest from my landuse/cover layer
C. Buffered the forest patches 300 feet
D. I then unioned the agriculture with the buffered forest to get an overlay to see where
the agriculture lays within 300 feet of the forest buffer
E. I then clipped the overlay of buffered forest and agriculture by putting in buffered
forest as my input and the agriculture as my clip(er).
F. I then unioned my clipped overlay with my forest because I wanted only my
agriculture area that was within 300 feet of my forest because this is the definition of
deer habitat
G. I then dissolved my union and Added a field to the attribute table “HABID” of
dissolved layer and gave value of 1.Buffered the habitat data and added a new field
called BUFFID with data set value of 1
H.Unioned the deer habitat, buffered habitat, and the boundary
I.Created a field called risk in the attribute table of the new layer
J. Select by attributes under BUFFID with values of 0 and field calculated field RISK
with a value of 1, same for BUFFID but selected value of 1 and RISK field was
calculated with a value of 2. Select by attributes for HABID with a value of 1 and field
calculate field RISK with a value of 3. BuffID of 0 recived risk 1 and  BUFFID 1
recieved a risk of 2 because the areas are buffered for 600 feet around the deer
habitat so the roads are approximately within that range and the HABID revieved a
value of 3 because that area is only buffered 300 feet so the intersecting roads are
within the referenced length of the deer habitat making those roads much closer to
deer habitat than the buffered 600 feet one.
K. Roads were intersected with deer habitat data.
L. Each roads was summarized based on risk with values of 1, 2, 3
M. Two maps were made with one showing road segments with different levels of risk
and one showing the deer habitat

2. Risk 1 roadway have a value of 116,879.657 feet
Risk level 2 roadway has a value of 646,255.41315feet
Risk level 3 had a roadway of 430,402.71 feet which makes sense because that is where it
is   farm/forest area making it difficult for construction of roads.
3.Risk 1 is densely packed in certain areas and is not widespread and risk 2 and 3 are
widespread throughout hopewell area.
4.Some management might be to make rounds going around deer habitat versus going
through it
More warning deer sign on the roads
fences with risk three areas can be set up to keep the deer off the roads
