Kurt Cobain was the lead singer and guitarist of the seminal grunge band Nirvana. He was born in 1967 in Washington and formed Nirvana in the late 1980s, achieving massive mainstream success with their 1991 album Nevermind and single "Smells Like Teen Spirit," which marked a shift in popular music. Cobain struggled with addiction and health issues throughout his life and career. He died by suicide in 1994 at his home in Seattle at the age of 27.
