EDUCATION
Pennsylvania State University – State College, PA May 2015
Master of Engineering in Acoustics, GPA: 3.68
James Madison University– Harrisonburg, VA May 2013
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Junior Associate, Cerami, Washington DC Oct 2015 – Jan 2016
 Analyzed interior wall partitions of office spaces to mitigate acoustic transmission from one
office to another by 20 STC points.
 Determined the detrimental effects of mechanical equipment and outdoor ambient noise on
future retail and apartment establishments using CadnaA model.
Distance Education Producer, PSU, State College, PA Jan 2014 – May 2015
 Controlled and mixed live audio and video feed for acoustic distance education students.
 Achieved audio and video continuity among in-class student, online student, and teacher
interaction every single class.
Undergraduate Research, JMU, Harrisonburg, VA September 2011 – May 2013
 Conducted experiments on interior functions of three mechanical and biological heart
valves used in non-invasive surgeries using a heart simulator.
 Worked alongside RMH hospital to analyze methods and strengths of various heart valves.
Intern, Cornet Technology Inc., Springfield, VA May 2011 – June 2011
 Developed AutoCAD drawings of chassis using Solid Works.
 Minimized time to develop and duplicate physical chassis for increased efficiency.
RESEARCH
 Graduate Research: Using Star Modal Analysis, & HP analyzer, extracted over 20
damping rates and 35 mode shapes of 8 rackets to determine validity of damping rate of
hollow and foam-filled rackets. Preliminary studies showed no outstanding evidence
between hollow and foam-filled rackets. Possible non-linear effect of high-shock impact.
 Concert Hall Research: Using SketchUp and ODEON, designed and precisely matched
the theoretical model of Esber Hall to the measurements within 5 JNDs.
TECHNICAL SKILLS & COURSEWORK
Programming Languages: Matlab, JAVA
Software: ODEON, SketchUp, CadnaA, STAR Modal Analysis, SolidWorks
Lab Machines: Lathe, Drill Press, Unit Conversions, FFT Analyzer, Oscilloscope
Acoustics Coursework: Digital Signal Processing, Electro-Acoustics Transducers,
Fundamentals in Noise & Vibration, Fundamentals in Fluids in Media, Architectural Acoustics,
Underwater Acoustics, Acoustics Lab
AWARDS/ACTIVITIES
 Award for Best Student Paper under Structure and Vibration TC at the 169th
Meeting of the
Acoustical Society of America, Pittsburgh, PA. Vayur, K., Russell, D. (May 2015)
“Vibrational analysis of hollow and foam-filled graphite tennis rackets.”
 Member of Acoustical Society of America January 2014 - present
 Treasurer of JMU Society of Women Engineers January 2013 – May 2013
 26.2 miles Marathon Runner 4 hours, 27 minutes October 2010
 South Indian classical vocal singer 1997 - present
