Being a public education employee is a calling, not just a job. Despite challenges like bureaucracy, politics, and criticism, public educators have never given up on their promise to students. They continue advocating and volunteering for students and public education, knowing their work really matters and makes the world a better place. However, politicians now want educators to pay more for pensions while getting less, trying to renege on the promise made to educators. Educators must stand up and let politicians know that pensions are a promise that must be kept.

You made a promise….
…to be the very best teacher
….to be the very support staff employee
….to put your heart and soul into your
work.

4. Despite the
bureaucratic paperwork,
bad bosses,
political games and
public criticism….

5. You have
never given up on
your promise to your
Students….

6. Even though there have
been times…
when
you were exhausted by
it all…

7. Somehow you found….
…the courage
…the energy
… and the fortitude

8. TO GO
BACK TO SCHOOL
ANOTHER DAY….

9. Because in your heart…
you know what you do
REALLY DOES
MATTER

10. When you close that classroom
door…

11. You forget about
the stupid laws
made by
politicians…

12. You forget about the
cynics who attack
your profession…

13. You forget about those
who don’t respect
your work…

14. And you focus on what
really matters…
Keeping your promise to
your students….

15. …to give each and every
child the very best
education that is
possible.

16. You do this …
even when
they cut your
classroom budget…

17. Even when they
refuse to give you a
pay raise….

18. Even when they
expect you to
perform
miracles…..

Accountable for things
You cannot possibly
control…

20. And even at the end of the day…
when you are exhausted…
You continue to keep your
promise…..

21. By advocating
for your students
and public
education…

22. …by volunteering in
your
association

23. By believing in the cause…

24. By speaking up and defending
your union
and public education….
even when it is uncomfortable

25. Because you
know that when
you accepted this
calling…

26. It was not
going to be
easy….

27. That you would
not be famous or
sometimes even popular

28. And you would
definitely
never get rich…

29. You accepted it
because there
was no choice…

30. Because you know deep down
that
to be a teacher… is about
more than money, status or
yourself….

31. It is about the children.

32. After all the
sacrifice …
when you have
completed your
journey…..

33. You can
retire…

34. …knowing you
have made the
world a better
place.

35. ..and in return… you have
the security of
knowing that when you
close that classroom door
for the last time….

36. You will be able to
financially
survive….and
perhaps even have
an adventure.

you are keeping
your promise..

politicians want
to renege on their
PROMISE …

pension crisis that was
