Knowledge-Based Analysis and Design (KBAD): An Approach to Rapid Systems Engi...Elizabeth Steiner
The document describes Knowledge-Based Analysis and Design (KBAD), a methodology developed by Systems and Proposal Engineering Company for rapid systems engineering and architecture development. KBAD combines system engineering and program management disciplines to develop an executable knowledge base that can support decision-making across a system's lifecycle. It utilizes a modified form of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) with simplified constructs and relationships between elements. The goal is to reduce complexity and capture the essential information needed for analysis and design in a more cost-effective manner than traditional approaches.
The document discusses different approaches to organizing software development teams. It describes democratic teams where all members share responsibility for the code. It also describes classical chief programmer teams with specialized roles like a chief programmer, backup programmer, and programming secretary. It notes challenges with scaling these approaches and proposes alternatives like using elements of both models and splitting the chief programmer role between management and technical leadership.
The document provides an overview of the AVK Group of Companies, which manufactures valves, hydrants, fittings and accessories. It discusses the company's mission of being the preferred supplier through a focus on quality, innovation, reliability, sustainability and customer service. It outlines the company's global leadership position through its large international network of over 65 subsidiaries worldwide, and commitment to local markets through customized local solutions. It also discusses the company's production processes, quality management systems, sales and marketing network, and focus on corporate social responsibility.

Product Design Trends in 2024 | Teenage EngineeringsPixeldarts
The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).
AI Trends in Creative Operations 2024 by Artwork Flow.pdfmarketingartwork
Creative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool currently. Business leaders are more actively exploring AI benefits than individual contributors. Most respondents do not believe AI will impact workforce size in 2024. However, some inhibitions still exist around AI accuracy and lack of understanding. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Organizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

Google's Just Not That Into You: Understanding Core Updates & Search IntentLily Ray
1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.

Korrekt Vandbehandling - Dansk Fjernvarme 2017
standard for fjernvarmevand AGFW FW 510.
VANDBEHANDLING Generelt er Dansk
Fjernvarmes vejledning ”Vandbe
handling og korrosionsforebyggelse”
fra september 2015 blevet godt
modtaget af både foreningens med
lemmer og leverandører af udstyr til
fjernvarmebranchen, og der var stor
tilslutning til en temadag om emnet,
som blev afholdt i maj 2016.
Men der har været kritiske røster i
forhold til vejledningens mere udtalte
anbefaling om kun at benytte afsaltet,
afluftet spædevand og minimere bru
gen af kemikalier ud over lud (NaOH)
til pH-regulering. Kritikken kommer
ikke mindst fra kemikalieleverandø
rerne, der naturligt nok ikke har en
interesse i, at branchen som helhed
følger anbefalingerne alt for tæt.
uden dispereringsmidler.

onsprodukter.
vurderes for hvert enkelt anlæg.
Alligevel kan det være interessant
for Fjernvarmens læsere at få
argumenterne for og imod kemika
lierne ridset op, så man bedre kan
vurdere, om ens eget anlæg hæl
der til den ene eller anden side.
Argumenterne for og imod
brugen af kemikalierne
Argumenterne for og imod brug
af iltbindende og dispergerende
kemikalier er kort opsummeret i
tabel 1.
Leverandørens argumenter er ikke
forkerte, men overordnet set er
denne behandling symptombe
handling på en dårlig vandkemi i
det hele taget. Det kan være på sin
plads i særlige tilfælde, men det er
ikke den bedste langsigtede stra
tegi for at drive et fjernvarmenet.
Hvis man vil gå efter ondets rod,
skal vandkemien forbedres ved at
benytte afsaltet spædevand og
dermed gå over til at drive nettet
med (del-)afsaltet vand.
Ulemperne ved brugen af kemi
kalierne er:

3. dem til vandet skaber man et fø
degrundlag for vækst af bakterier
og dermed dannelse af biofilm.
Biofilm kan også give anledning til
lokal korrosion under filmen, og
biofilm isolerer så godt, at nedsat
varmetransport over varmeveks
lere er en ofte overset konsekvens.
ɟɟ Den bedste iltbinder i systemet
er ståloverfladerne i sig selv. En
tilsat iltbinder kan nå at reagere
med noget af den indtrængende
ilt, men en stor del vil stadig blive
forbrugt til korrosion. Jo højere
ledningsevne der er i vandet, jo
mere lokal og skadevoldende bli
ver korrosionen.
ɟɟ Kemikalierne er dyre, selv et min
dre fjernvarmeværk køber ofte
kemikalier for 40-50.000 kroner om
året. Til sammenligning ville den
nødvendige mængde NaOH til at
konditionere vandet højst koste et
par tusinde kroner.
Den tyske standard for
fjernvarmevandets kvalitet
I den diskussion, vi havde med leve
randøren, blev der også refereret til
internationale standarder, som efter
leverandørens udsagn anbefalede
brugen af kemikalier. Konkret henvi
ste leverandøren til en TÜV-norm fra
Tyskland, som jeg efterfølgende har
eftersøgt. Kontakt til kolleger i kraft
værksbranchen i Tyskland har givet et
opdateret indtryk af anbefalingerne
til kvalitet og konditionering af fjern
varmevand i det store fjernvarme
land mod syd.
Kontakten til Tyskland viste, at
den nyeste og gældende standard for
kvalitet af fjernvarmevand er AGFW-
Arbeitsblatt FW 510. AGFW dækker
over ”Der Energieeffizienzverband
en brancheforening inden for teknisk
opvarmning og afkøling. TÜV, der er
medlem af denne sammenslutning,
har opgivet sin egen norm på områ
det og anbefaler nu at følge FW 510
med hensyn til fjernvarmevand. Det
er derfor interessant at sammenligne
anbefalingerne heri (som jeg har
oversat) med Dansk Fjernvarmes vej
ledning.
De anbefalede tyske grænsevær
dier for de kemiske kvalitetsparame
tre er vist i tabel 2.
Der er i høj grad overensstem

4. 6.2 Driftsbetingelser med saltfattigt vand
”I saltfattigt vand er faren for iltkorrosion ringere, jo lavere ledningsevnen er. Derfor kan der som regel tolereres
grænseværdier for ilt på 0,05 hhv. 0,10 mg/L.
korrosionsskader.

varmes vejledning. Tyskerne tillader
et bredere pH-interval, hvor vi styrer
efter pH 9,8 ± 0,2 som det bedste kom
promis mellem hensyn til materialer
af stål og kobber/messing. Holdnin
risiko for kalkdannelse.
De centrale steder i den tyske
standard FW 510, hvor der står noget
om konditionering og brugen af kemi
kalier, er opsummeret i tabel 3.

5. tydelig overensstemmelse med an
befalingerne i Dansk Fjernvarmes
vejledning: Både systemer med afsal
tet og systemer med blødgjort vand
kan i normale tilfælde (uden større
indtrængning af ilt og forureninger)
drives alene ved konditionering med
NaOH til pH over 9 og spædning med
afluftet vand. Anvendelsen af iltbin
dere og dispergeringsmidler kan an
vendes i særlige tilfælde, hvor der er
et (midlertidigt) behov.
Bemærkningerne i den tyske stan
dard om, at ved iltindbrud kan iltbin
deren ikke nå at forhindre iltens reak
tion med ståloverfladerne, det vil sige
et forbrug af ilt til korrosion, passer
meget fint med vores opfattelse. Det
blev tydeligt demonstreret allerede
for mere end 15 år siden i en undersø
gelse, som Fælleskemikerne ved det
daværende Elsam udførte for Dansk
Fjernvarme (Karsten Thomsen, Erik
F. Smitshuysen, ”Kemiske iltbinderes
virkemåde og indvirkning på korro
sionsmiljøet i fjernvarmesystemer”,
DFF-F&U-rapport 2001-02, red.).
Overvågning af kvalitetsparame
trene er selvfølgelig også omtalt i
FW 510. Ud over kvalitetsparame
trene i tabel 2 anbefaler den tyske
standard at analysere for yderligere
parametre, som alle er omfattet af
anbefalingerne i Dansk Fjernvarmes
vejledning.
Sammenfatning
Ud over en udveksling af syns
punkter og holdninger til brugen af
iltbindere og dispergeringsmidler
i fjernvarmesystemer førte diskus
sionen med leverandøren til et tjek
af Dansk Fjernvarmes vejledning om
korrosionsforebyggelse og vandbe
handling i forhold til den gældende
tyske standard på området, AGFW FW
afsaltet vand i fjernvarmesystemer.
Og at minimere brugen af de organi
ske konditioneringsmidler til de få
tilfælde, hvor der reelt er et behov
på grund af utilfredsstillende vand
kemi. Brugen af kemikalier vil da være
symptombehandling, som ikke fjer
ner årsagen til den dårlige vandkemi,
og som har uheldige bivirkninger. Den
egentlige kur mod problemet er at
finde og udbedre utæthederne. Dette
kan være vanskeligt, men ved brug af
de forskellige metoder, der er til rå
dighed, kan man komme langt. J
