• COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The course on the identification,
assessment and synthesis of qualitative and
quantitative studies to help explain, interpret
and implement the findings from effective
systematic reviews in relation to concept
development and knowledge synthesis in
nursing. This module requires higher level of
skills in conducting literature search, initiation of
related concepts, integration of research
process and dynamics, synthesis, and analysis.

At the end of the course, the students
should be able to:
• Critically understand the similarities and differences between
the methods, models and integrated processes in
synthesizing qualitative and quantitative research.
• Utilize integrated methods, models, processes and strategies
in conducting qualitative and quantitative research synthesis.
• Develop quantitative and qualitative research synthesis in
accordance with current best practices.
• Become subject matter experts in the area of their systematic
