The document describes a book called "How to Primp Life: The Prim and Proper Guide For Young Ladies" written by Jasmine Jones and Keeyma D. Beckley. The book provides advice and guidance for girls ages 8-18 on topics like relationships, self-esteem, decision making, and life goals. It was inspired by the authors' involvement in a youth organization called W.A.I.T. that promotes abstinence and positive decision making. The book is intended to educate and empower young women so they can achieve their dreams.
This document summarizes the influences that lead young girls to start wearing makeup at early ages. It explores peer pressure, media influences through magazines and television shows, and the desire to appear grown up like their mothers and celebrities. The document argues that excessive makeup use is being promoted and normalized for girls as young as 4 years old through child beauty pageants and children's makeup brands. While makeup can boost confidence, early and heavy use may set unhealthy expectations and promote the "ideal self" over a girl's natural identity.
The document discusses the various ways that schools influence children's development beyond academics. It describes how schools help children develop social skills through interactions with peers and teachers, build character and self-concept through lessons on respect and values, and broaden their horizons by exposing them to new activities, cultures, and potential careers. The school environment allows children to learn important life skills like problem-solving, develop interests, and gain an understanding of their own strengths.

The program is based on the "Book Whisperer" approach of teacher Donalyn Miller, who gets her students to read over 40 books per year. The goal is to create a community of readers. The easy 3 step program has students 1) read books of all types, 2) write a brief book description or "blurb", and 3) count the number of books read and blurbs written over a 6 week period. Students will celebrate their progress each 6 weeks and receive rewards for reading. The PTA is looking for volunteers to help lead book clubs, speak at celebrations, or sponsor celebration
