Following the footsteps of Kamala Surayya, this Malayalam
writer got converted from Hinduism to Buddhism in 2000. In
his own words – “I have not converted because I have not
been a believer though I was a Hindu. I have now embraced
Buddhism, not converted to Buddhism. The problem with
Hinduism is that it is a religion of social status and set-ups.
Your value in Hinduism depends on the family in which you
were born.
… I embraced the Ambedkar sect of Buddhism because I am a
follower of Ambedkar.”

It has large quantities of carotenoid pigments which

regions of Kottayam/Idukki, some incident caused
by this algae created a huge uproar, which was later
a subject of extensive studies.

Here is a story behind a popular temple among quizzers– Once, the Goddess
agreed to appear before a devotee on the condition that he will not disclose it
to anyone. But the excited devotee, unable to hold it within himself, told
everyone, and when the goddess appeared before him, seeing the small
crowd that had gathered there, she vanished immediately, and all that the
devotees could see was X.
Another story revolves around Kurur Namboothiri, who found X coming out of
water in the middle of the lake. Kurur, on his excitement, jumped into the
pond, swam to the centre and caught of hold of X. Immediately, they turned
into stone, becomes stationary. Kallekulangara, where the temple is situated,
derives its name from this incident.
The Sanctum Sanctorum (or the Garba Griha) is at the same level as the water
in the pond that surrounds the temple, signifying that the deity emerged
from there.
What is X? Which temple are we talking about?
