The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge will host its annual Summer Natural History Adventures camp from June 1st to July 31st for elementary students entering kindergarten through 6th grade. The one-day camps allow kids to explore the Nature Center's 3,600 acres and experience wildlife encounters led by naturalists. Camps are scheduled on different dates depending on grade level, with activities like crafts, canoeing, and exploring animal habitats. Members of the Nature Center receive a discount to enroll for $15-35 depending on grade level.

Elementary Students Explore The Great Outdoors
FORT WORTH – Feb. 26, 2015 - Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge will host its annual Summer
Natural History Adventures for kids June 1-July 31. The one-day camp allows kids entering
kindergarten through sixth grades to explore nature and experience unique wildlife encounters.
“Our camps utilize the entire 3,600 acre Nature Center as a giant classroom,” said Laura Wood,
executive director of Friends of the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge.
Adventure Camp are scheduled on different dates depending on grade level. Kindergarten
Adventures meet Mondays from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Nature Adventures for first through sixth grades meet
Tuesday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. First and second grades will be the only grade levels to meet
twice a week, Tuesday and Friday. Third and fourth grades meet Wednesday and fifth and sixth grades
will meet Thursday. After-care is offered Tuesday-Friday from 3-4:30 p.m.

2. NATURE ADVENTURE CAMP
The Nature Center offers students the chance to burn energy while learning about the natural
world around them. The Nature Center has over 3,600 acres of land consisting of forest, prairies,
marshes and rivers. Each expedition is led by a qualified naturalist and combines with age appropriate
games and activities. Crafts, canoeing and exploring various animal habitats are just some of the many
activities kids will enjoy during the adventure camp.
Members of the Nature Center receive a discount to enroll. The Membership cost to enroll a
kindergarten student is $15 and $35 for grades 1-6. Non-members pay $5 more than the membership
price. The after-care fee is $5 per child for both members and non-members. All payments are due at the
time of registration. Registration may be completed through mail, fax or by scanning and sending the
form to anne.hamman@forthworthtexas.gov.
