This document provides an analysis of census and economic data for West Cork, Ireland. It finds that West Cork is following national trends for peripheral areas, with higher unemployment rates compared to the country as a whole and all West Cork electoral divisions showing increases in unemployment from 2006 to 2011. Additionally, it finds that housing vacancy and oversupply appears to be an issue in coastal areas of West Cork, mirroring the trend in Ireland. Finally, it notes that broadband availability is becoming a greater issue, with an obvious disparity between urban and rural households having access that could impact businesses.

smartBike is a prototype of an adaptive navigation system which is especially designed for e-bikes. Contextinformation like the current battery status or the drivers fitness level have an effect on the route finding. One of the key functionalities is that the system provides additional routes to the user if the bike runs out of battery. In that case, he simply gets redirected towards the closest charging station.

Eliminate the risks in using Hydrogen as a Carrier Gas in GC Analysis.
Hydrogen is widely considered to be the best carrier gas for gas chromatography systems. In fact, ASTM subcommittee D0.204 for Hydrocarbon Analysis strongly recommends hydrogen as the de facto choice for GC laboratories. Other advantages of hydrogen include rapid analysis, greater efficiencies, decreased costs and extended column life. The reasons for choosing hydrogen are undeniable—if you take the correct measure to protect your lab from hydrogen leaks.
The ability to safely detect hydrogen leaks in the GC oven is critical to any laboratory using hydrogen as a carrier gas. The new DVLS3 H2 Sensor ensures the safe use of hydrogen in GC analysis. It does this by constantly monitoring the H2 concentrations in the GC oven and automatically switching to an inert gas when typically 25% LEL is reached; this important feature eliminates the risks and at the same time ensures safety.

Revenue management, also called yield management, is the main focus in hospitality. Room nights being a perishable good it is of vital importance selling them for the highest room rate possible before their sudden demise. Let"s call it what it is: rent revenue management. Being highly focused on this narrow task hotels will miss out on maximizing efficiency and secondary revenue sources, and are not aware enough of the dependency between those sources. The purpose of this article is to show the possibilities for improved daily performance management by introducing a GOPPAR model that intrinsically contains many departmental KPIs, including the most used ones, Occupancy, ADR en RevPAR. The model can easily be tailored and expanded depending on hotel specifics.
