Medipak is the leading manufacturer of I.V solutions (Basic & Electrolyte I.V. Solutions & I.V.
Administration Sets). Medipak has always been striving to improve the return on the
investment by reducing its expenses and the associated cost in the fluctuating economy of
Pakistan. In the packing department there are 50 workers performing their duties. To work in
the packing department there is no specific skill is needed. Sometimes the company is paying its
workers for no production due to the lack of orders and demand. This is a headache for the
company.
As in Pakistan the bulk of the workforce have no technical and management skills. The
workforce who is unskilled is willing to work on any condition or wage. To cope with this
situation the company has rejected the traditional hiring and firing procedure. Now the
Medipak is using the approach of pull system for recruiting the workers. Whenever the orders
or demand is created the company hires the workers on the daily basis. Due to this approach
the company sends back the employees when there is no work.
Now the company is able to maintain a balance between its costs and the returns by using the
concept of just in time workforce.
