The UK saw a drop in non-essential retail sales in the two days following the Brexit vote, with non-food sales down 4.5% compared to the same week last year and the prior week. Data from a market research firm showed that overall FMCG sales were down 2.6% year-over-year for the week ending June 25th, with the most affected categories being clothing (down 9.3%), household items (down 4.5%), and health and beauty (down 4.3%). Wine sales decreased 4% while the overall alcohol market was down, suggesting consumers were not increasing alcohol consumption in response to the Brexit result.
