Surveying: Object Principles & Types of Surveying; Site Plans, Plans & Maps; Scales & Unit of different Measurements.
Linear Measurements: Instruments used. Linear Measurement by Tape, Ranging out Survey Lines and overcoming Obstructions; Measurements on sloping ground; Tape corrections, conventional symbols. Angular Measurements: Instruments used; Introduction to Compass Surveying, Bearings and Longitude & Latitude of a Line, Introduction to total station.
Levelling: Instrument used Object of levelling, Methods of levelling in brief, and Contour maps.
Chapter 4
Buildings: Selection of site for Buildings, Layout of Building Plan, Types of buildings, Plinth area, carpet area, floor space index, Introduction to building byelaws, concept of sun light & ventilation. Components of Buildings & their functions, Basic concept of R.C.C., Introduction to types of foundation

Transportation: Introduction to Transportation Engineering; Traffic and Road Safety: Types and Characteristics of Various Modes of Transportation; Various Road Traffic Signs, Causes of Accidents and Road Safety Measures.

Environmental Engineering: Environmental Pollution, Environmental Acts and Regulations, Functional Concepts of Ecology, Basics of Species, Biodiversity, Ecosystem, Hydrological Cycle; Chemical Cycles: Carbon, Nitrogen & Phosphorus; Energy Flow in Ecosystems.
Water Pollution: Water Quality standards, Introduction to Treatment & Disposal of Waste Water. Reuse and Saving of Water, Rain Water Harvesting. - 1. Journal #1: Write about your best friend. When I was a little girl, I had good and lots best friends. It was a group of five girls that grew up together. But when we grew up all the girls took a different path. I had an amazing and unforgettable memories with them. Later when I was in high school, I meet my real best friends, Josian and Krystal. I consider them like brothers because they stay with me all moments bad and goods, sad and happy. I said thank God because they are a special blessing. My other best friends is my grandmother. She is the most important women in my life. She is like a mother, my friend, the one who takes care of me and who is with me all time. I can have any conversation with her because she knows me perfectly. I have a lot of friends but not all are like a best friend. Best Friend are more than friends, they are like a family. Journal #2: Describe everything you like to do every weekend. Every day of weekend is my favorite. However I specially love Fridays. All weekend I plan to do something with my friends and family. I like go to the movies, eat yogurt, and shop. I can’t do this every weekend because now I have to study more time. However, I always try to have fun at least one day of weekend. Basically, since I stay in collage, my weekends are different that before. Now I spend a lot time studying. On Sundays I go to church, and if possible, I do something to relax my mind. I love my weekend and are the best days of the week.
