The Old Jott was a voice-to-text messaging service that launched in December 2006 and allowed users to dictate messages that would be converted to text and sent as SMS messages, emails, tweets, or calendar items. By 2008, Jott had yet to spend anything on marketing. In 2009, Jott began charging $4 per month and added voicemail-to-text capabilities. As of May 3, 2011, the Jott service was no longer operating.
