Josquin Dez Prez was a highly influential Roman-Catholic composer born in 1445 in Hainaut, Belgium who is known for spreading the Northern polyphonic style to Italian churches. He composed both secular pieces focusing on themes of love, drama, and politics as well as sacred music for worship and rituals.
