Mrs. MacDonald reflects on a great third grade school year and encourages parents to continue engaging with their children over the summer. She says each student brought joy to the classroom. As the students move to fourth grade, Mrs. MacDonald recommends parents have daily meaningful conversations, read with their children, practice multiplication facts, and encourage writing to help their children succeed.

Wow,what a year!To betterstate that- whata GREAT year!We have coveredalot of material and
participatedinmanyfun
and excitingprojects.We startedtodevelopskillsneededforthe fourthgrade.We made manynew
friendsalongthe waytoo.
Each of yourchildrenhasbroughtsuch joyand happinesstoourclassroom.Iwas so fortunate tohave
such a wonderful groupof childrenthispastyear.Myfriendsandfamilyoftenlaughatme whenIrefer
to yourchildrenas“my kids”.Theyare like myownchildren.Theyall have touchedmylife andthis
school yearin verypositive andrewardingways.Ihope asthe yearsgo bythat theykeepintouch.
Today’stechnologycanhelpuscontinue the relationshipswe have built.Iencourage andwelcome
correspondencesfromyouandyourchildren.
It has beenmypleasure gettingtoknownotonlyyour child,butyouas well.Havingparental support

As yourchildmovesfromthirdto fourthgrade,there are some veryimportantthingsyoucan do to help
themsucceed.Engage inmeaningful conversationswithyourchildeveryday.Take time (if onlyafew
minutesaday) to reallylistentowhattheyhave tosay. Readto and listentoyourchildread.Ask
questions,make predictions,make life totextconnectionsasyouread.Practice those multiplication
facts as a way to reallybe readyforfourthgrade math. Helpyourchilddevelopasense of workingand
solvingproblemsindependently.Talkaboutwaysandstart practicinggettingandstayingorganized.
Encourage your childtowrite often!Writingstories,letters,journal entries,etcare greatways to get
thoughtsorganizedandputontopaper.These little thingswill leadtobigsuccessesnextyear.
