John Lewis is bringing its regional flagship to the heart of the region’s capital. John Lewis Birmingham and Grand Central will deliver a stunning gateway to the West Midlands and will play a key role in regenerating the south side of the city, by completing the walking circuit when it reconnects the north and south sides of the city with new pedestrian links and public space. This will act as a major stimulus for the physical regeneration and economic growth in Birmingham city centre

John Lewis Birmingham will be housed in a landmark four-storey building.
The programme is all on track for our September opening
The shop’s total floor area is 250,000 sq ft - equivalent to 3.5 football pitches
Combining everyone’s steps the site team walks 48 miles per week – the same distance as from Birmingham city centre to Nottingham or Crewe.
John Lewis Birmingham will contain approximately 14,000m2 of ceramic flooring – enough to tile four Olympic-sized swimming pools
Behind the scenes, ten miles of sprinkler pipework weighing 76 tonnes will be installed - laid end to end this would stretch from the shop door to the outskirts of Wolverhampton
The shop build will use 58,000m2 of plasterboard – enough to cover Birmingham Botanical Gardens
610,000 drywall screws have been used to build the shop’s plasterboard partitions – laid end to end these would cover a distance of 19 miles, equivalent to the length of ten Birmingham Airport runways

John Lewis Birmingham will be home to all the traditional services found in our Full Line Department Stores. In addition, John Lewis Birmingham will have a Kuoni travel concession, a Foreign Exchange bureau, a Beauty Spa, a Clarins Skin Spa and a Customer Hub.
