John Hughes was an American film director, producer, and screenwriter best known for 1980s teen films like Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He also directed comedies like Planes, Trains and Automobiles starring Steve Martin and John Candy, as well as family films Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Hughes worked on many iconic films during his career before passing away in 2009.
