John Denver, born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr., had a successful career as a folk and country artist in the 1970s. He recorded over 300 songs, 200 of which he composed himself. Some of his most famous songs include "Take Me Home, Country Roads," "Rocky Mountain High," and "Annie's Song." Denver was married twice and had three children, but died in a plane crash in 1997 at age 53. He had a passion for the environment and nature that was reflected in his music.
