1. Deposits growing at region’s largest banks

• The region’s top banks strengthened their operations and balance sheets over the last year according to
data recently released by the FDIC. At the region’s top eight banks, deposits were up an average of
$632 million or 8.1 percent year-over-year. As of June, the sum of deposits at these eight largest banks
totaled $64.6 billion, up from $59.5 billion the year earlier.
• At $15.0 billion, KeyBank retained the top spot as the region’s largest bank by deposits. Huntington
National Bank however had the most offices in Northeast Ohio with 187, followed by PNC Bank with 145
and KeyBank with 124.
