The Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) is conducted by 21 premier institutes in India to select candidates for PhD programs in physics and theoretical computer science. JEST scores are an important part of the selection process. Candidates with an MSc in physics or related fields can apply. Some institutes also accept applications from talented graduates with BE, BTech or BSc degrees for integrated MS-PhD programs. Selection is based on JEST scores and further interviews at each participating institute.
