Science of Psychology emphasis in ABA therapy.
In my current role as an intern, I have been involved in collecting, and analyzing data, and using that
data to build new behavior plans. In just a short period of time I have seen residents learn to live a
productive life. With my internship at the Baddour Community I was able to help one resident learn how
to manage his time, and achieve all the tasks required of him in each day. This was achieved through
building rapport with this resident. If the client does not trust their therapist, growth will be slowed
down or not occur at all. Parents also have to feel they have a voice and are involved in their child’s
care.
For me, being involved in my children’s care was what led me to enter this amazing field. I have also
felt involved in my children’s care. As a therapist I want the parent’s input as much as possible. They
know their child better than anyone else. They will be the ones there when I leave, and they are the ones
who will be carrying out supports when I am not there. If they are not comfortable with something, I
want them to feel they can speak up.
