1. JENNIFER PARKER
Jennifer is an extremely capable and enthusiastic member of the All Party
Parliamentary Group on A Fit and Healthy Childhood. The Group takes a ‘whole
child’ approach and aims to influence policy-makers with its well-documented
reports. The first two, ‘Healthy Patterns for Healthy Families’ and ‘The Early Years’
have received widespread attention and the third ‘Food in School and the Teaching of
Food’ is currently in preparation. The APPG meets regularly at Westminster and is
Chaired by Baroness Floella Benjamin. I Chair the Working Groups and write the
reports, based on submissions from Group members.
Jennifer is a constructive and enthusiastic Working Group member. She has an
extremely scholarly approach and a really intensive knowledge of nutrition and
relevant legislative concerns. Her writing is fluent; very well-documented and she has
the knack of going to the heart of an issue with intensively – researched and logical
arguments. I was especially impressed with her forensic analysis of the strengths and
weaknesses of The School Food Plan and her ideas will inform and enrich our third
report.
I am also very grateful for Jennifer’s scrupulous attention to detail and desire to give
of her best at all times. She would be a great asset to any team and has the confidence
and initiative to inspire and encourage others.
