from the professionals who have experienced
it first-hand. Stay after the panel discussion for
networking! The event is an opportunity for
students to understand what it’s like to live and
work in the Emerging Markets; or to start a
business. We live in a global economy where even
the most promising students face competition
from around the world. Therefore, it’s essential
that students prepare themselves so that they
are more adaptable in the job market. Even in
the heyday of social media, it is important to
make personal connections, where one-on-one
interactions make a person stand out in the crowd.
The panel discussion will address the following
points:
• Unique factors about working in a variety of
professions, industries, and regions throughout
the world.
• How to get started in each of the regions
represented.
• How to effectively network and the importance
of an authentic reputation within the region.
• The main CAGE (Cultural, Administrative,
Geographic, and Economic) implications to be
aware of when working in these regions.

3. Walter – USA
Walter Smiechewicz, Senior
Partner at PwC, a leading
global consultancy, serves as
one of the firm’s leaders in the
areas of enterprise risk
management (ERM), internal
audit, governance, risk and
compliance (GRC) services
within the financial services
sector. Prior to joining PwC, Walter was a Chief
Audit Executive and Chief Risk officer in banks
with up to $250 billion in total assets. A Certified
Public Accountant, Walter holds an undergraduate
degree in Accountancy, a masters degree in
Humanities, and has studied most recently at
Oxford University’s Saïd Business School. He and
his wife reside in California.
Abbie – Philippines and
South East Asia
Abigail Casanova (Abbie) is a
First Vice President of Security
Bank, one of the top banks in
the Philippines and affiliated to
the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi
UFG, Japan’s largest bank.
She heads the Retail Credit
Operations Group which is
responsible for the consumer
finance operations of the bank. Her main expertise
is on consumer finance specifically on sales, credit,
collections and operations. She has over 20 years
in banking experience and has held various senior
roles in BDO Unibank, Citibank, N.A. and GE
Money. She is an honorary member of the Credit
Management Association of the Philippines of
which she was elected President from 2009-2011.
Abbie is also a Certified Six Sigma Blackbelt,
acquired from GE Money and the Ateneo
Graduate School. She has an undergraduate
degree in Business Economics and has recently
studied at the Saïd Business School, University of
Oxford.
Bruno – Brazil
Bruno Frossard is the CEO at
Techduto Tecnologia, one of
the fastest growing companies
in the field of HDPE
corrugated pipes’
manufacturing in South
America.
Bruno also worked with
DanicaZipco where he led the company
as its president, and also had consultancy
experiences with KPMG, where he was involved
in a wide range of Corporate Restructuring
and M&A projects. Furthermore, he had solid
entrepreneurial experience where he was involved
in the successful web portal launch focused on
mapping Non-Profit Organizations in Brazil, which
included fund-raising for their activities.
Bruno is Brazilian and holds an undergraduate
degree in Business Administration, a masters
degree in Financial Economics, an EMBA and has
studied most recently at Oxford University’s Saïd
Business School.
Jon – United Kingdom
Jonathan Seaton (Jon) is the
CEO of Twinkl Educational
Publishing – a specialist digital
publisher, operating in over
100 countries worldwide.
Jon is a qualified lawyer
and Notary Public (England
& Wales) – studying both
computer science and law at Sheffield University
as well as Notorial Practice at University College
London. Additionally, Jon has a master’s level
qualification in Global Business from the University
of Oxford and will shortly be starting an EMBA at
the same.
In six years, Jon has taken Educational Publishing
from a startup to GBP30m business, currently
employing over 200 staff in 15 countries. Jon is
passionate about computing, and takes an active

4. and direct role in various technical elements of
the business – including tech strategy and data
analytics.
Jon is British and currently based in the Peak
District National Park. He has previously lived in
Hong Kong and Kenya, and is a proficient speaker
of French.
Mothobi – South Africa and
Southern Africa
Mothobi Seseli is the co-
founder and CEO of one of
Southern Africa’s top
performing investment
management firms, Argon
Asset Management. Founded
in 2005, the business has
grown organically and
currently manages over
ZAR32 billion in assets across 44 client mandates.
Mothobi has over 20 years’ experience in the
financial services industry. His prior experiences
were with the South African subsidiary of
NYSE listed asset manager, Alliance Bernstein
LP and Investec Asset Management. Mothobi’s
leadership skills and achievements are recognised
internationally, and he was adjudged Best Asset
Management Industry CEO in South Africa and
in Africa numerously by international bodies and
publications recently. Mothobi is also the past
President of Association of Black Securities and
Investment Professionals, South Africa and a
member of its National Exco.
Mothobi regularly presents at industry conferences
on entrepreneurship, transformation of the
investment management industry, as well
as corporate governance. He holds an MA
(Economics) RAU, the IoD (SA) Certified Director,
and the EPGC (Stanford University). He has
studied most recently at Oxford University’s Saïd
Business School. Mothobi lives in Cape Town with
his wife and three children.
John – China
John Williams is the Managing
Director of International SOS
China, based in Beijing.
He has degrees from the
University of Leeds (UK),
Fudan University in Shanghai,
in Chinese, German and
Management Studies, and
Oxford University’s Saïd Business School. John
began his career as an Insurance Broker with his
appointment as General Manager of Sedgwick
Group’s China subsidiary, which took him to
Beijing in 1989. In 1998 he was appointed as
General Manager of International SOS Beijing,
later as Regional General Manager of International
SOS China and then as Managing Director for
Partnership and Government Affairs in China and
Mongolia. He also sits on the International SOS
Asia EXCO.
John also serves as an Honorary Standing Director
of the Beijing Red Cross Society and has served
several times as a Council Executive of the British
Chamber of Commerce in China where he is
currently Vice Chair (16/17). John is British and has
lived in China for more than 25 years. He speaks
English, Chinese and German.
Subhadra – India
Subhadra Kunduri is the
Principal Director of Total
Supply Chain & Food Solutions
Ltd., based in India.
Subhadra has over twenty
years of varied experience
in strategic planning, project
implementation, business
development, and general management in India.
She has specific exposure to World Bank and
Asian Development Bank aided project contracts
in the Power Transmission & Distribution segment.
She has worked for the past decade in the Food
Service & Modern Retail supply space.

5. Subhadra holds an undergraduate degree in
Chemistry, a Masters degree in Chemistry and
English. She has studied Management at the
London Business School, and most recently, at Saïd
Business School, University of Oxford. Subhadra is
currently based in South India (shuttling between
the cities of Chennai and Hyderabad), and speaks
several Indian languages.
Kiat – Singapore and
South East Asia
Kian Kiat Tan is the Vice
President, Global Head of
Mergers and Acquisitions
(M&A) in Strategic
Development at Nipsea
Nippon Paint Group, one of the
largest paints and coatings
companies globally, focusing on
expanding the Groups business.
Kiat started his Chartered Accountancy training
in England and previously worked with Avista
Houlihan Lokey, Deloitte and Ernst & Young
where he was involved in various M&A, Capital
Markets and Corporate Restructuring transactions
for public and private companies, and financial
sponsors.
Kiat is a Fellow Member of the Association of
Chartered Certified Accountants, and holds a
degree in Accountancy. He received an MBA from
Chicago Booth School of Business and has studied
most recently at Oxford University’s Saïd Business
School. Kiat is currently based in Singapore.
