Juan 17:11-23

The document contains Amos' visions of judgment from God against Israel for their sins. It begins with visions of locusts and fire destroying the land. Another vision uses a plumb line to show how Israel has not kept straight with God. A priest opposes Amos' message, but Amos insists he is only prophesying what God has called him to say. Further visions depict a basket of ripe fruit indicating the time for judgment, and doorposts shaking to signify God's verdict. The document ends with promises of restoration if Israel turns from sin.
The document contains a summary of the book of Amos, a prophet in the Old Testament. It discusses 3 main topics:
1. Amos defends his right to prophesy against Israel, saying that God has chosen to punish them for their sins.
2. God will raise up enemies like Assyria to oppress Israel as punishment for their wickedness. Only a small remnant will survive.
3. Amos warns Israel to repent and seek God, and warns that a day of judgment is coming. However, God offers a chance for salvation if they turn away from evil. The book teaches that no nation is exempt from God's standards of justice and righteousness.
This document discusses several key points from the book of Amos:
- God punishes Israel for their iniquities despite knowing them alone of all peoples.
- Prophets speak with authority directly from God but may err, unlike Old Testament prophets whose words became Scripture.
- God used plagues, famine, drought and other means to urge Israel to repent from oppressing the poor and idolatry.
- People today often seek things other than God. The Day of the Lord will be darkness for those unprepared.
- Pagan worship with idols, songs and instruments provoked God rather than honoring Him. True faith is shown through works.
AMOS 1 - CHANGE - SIS DONNA TARUN - 6:30PM EVENING SERVICE Marcus Amaba
The document provides background on the prophet Amos, who prophesied in the northern kingdom of Israel around 750 BC. Amos condemned Israel and surrounding nations for their sins, including social injustice, idolatry, and cruelty. He predicted God would judge these nations through military destruction. The summary lists the nations condemned by Amos, their sins, the judgments predicted, and historical fulfillments. It encourages readers to submit to God's word to do right and be ready for the final judgment.
This document discusses how sin has corrupted mankind since entering the world. It describes how sin can spread like a chain reaction from person to person and nation to nation. It says God will bring temporary judgment to turn people to repentance, but if they continue in sin and neglect God's judgment, they will face eternal punishment. The document then examines how the prophet Amos delivered warnings about God's coming judgment on several nations - Damascus, Gaza, Tyre, Edom, and Ammon - for their sins of cruelty, slave trading, and neglecting their covenants. It suggests these warnings also apply prophetically to judge such sins today.
Amos prophesied to the northern kingdom of Israel and the surrounding nations. He delivered messages of judgment from God for their sins. Their sins included social injustice, immorality, idolatry, and corruption of prophets. God would not relent in his judgment for these transgressions. The nations would face destruction and exile. Israel did not heed God's warnings through the prophets and would face divine judgment in the form of military defeat and exile from their land. The document outlines Amos' prophecies against various nations and their fulfillment, with lessons about God holding nations accountable and treating injustice and apostasy equally.
JAMES 6 - YOUR SEAT, JESUS SEAT - PTR RICHARD NILLO - 6:30PM EVENING SERVICEMarcus Amaba
This document discusses the problem of showing partiality or favoritism in church. It describes a scenario from the book of James where a rich man is given a good seat in church while a poor man is told to stand in a lesser area. The document argues that Christianity teaches equality, and that in God's eyes, all people are equally sinful and in need of salvation, so no one should be shown partial favoritism over others. It encourages treating all people with equality and fairness as brothers and sisters in Christ.
JAMES 6 - YOUR SEAT, JESUS SEAT - PTR ALVIN GUTIERREZ - 4PM AFTERNOON SERVICEMarcus Amaba
This document is a sermon discussing favoritism and partiality in the church. It summarizes a passage from James that warns against showing preferential treatment to the rich over the poor. The sermon argues that Christianity teaches all people are equally sinful and saved only by Jesus, so believers should not judge others or discriminate in the church based on wealth or status. It encourages giving all glory to Jesus as the one who deserves to sit on the throne over our lives.
JAMES 6 - YOUR SEAT, JESUS SEAT - PTR VETTY GUTIERREZ - 10AM MORNING SERVICEMarcus Amaba
The document discusses favoritism and partiality in the church. It describes a scenario where a rich man and poor man come to church, and the rich man is given preferential seating over the poor man. The document argues this shows partiality, which is wrong. Christians should treat all people equally, regardless of wealth, as all are equally sinful and only Jesus is truly good. Favoring some over others in the church goes against biblical teachings of equality. The ultimate message is that the only seat of true importance is that of Jesus, and Christians should not concern themselves with status or seating, but only worship the one who alone deserves glory.
JAMES 2 - HARD LIFE + GOOD GOD = DEEP JOY - PTR VETTY GUTIERREZ - 10AM MORNIN...Marcus Amaba
God uses trials and hardships in our lives to produce perseverance and maturity. We should consider it pure joy when facing trials of many kinds, knowing that the testing of our faith strengthens us. When we lack wisdom during trials, we should ask God generously for help, believing that he will provide what we need. Through steadfastness during trials and asking God for wisdom, we can develop deep spiritual maturity and joy that is not dependent on circumstances.
