The Australian Medical Aid Foundation (AMAF) and Rotary have collaborated to address the medical equipment shortage in Northern and Eastern Sri Lanka, specifically for the Jaffna Teaching Hospital's ophthalmology department. The project raised AUD 120,000, with contributions from various Rotary clubs and a global grant, leading to the acquisition of crucial equipment for eye care, benefiting a population of over one million. As a result, over 6,000 patients have been treated, and further funding was secured to enhance the diagnostic capabilities of the provided equipment.
