The jade plant, also known as Crassulaovata, is an easy to grow dicot foliage plant with thick waxy oval leaves that are opposite and spoon-shaped without petioles. It has thick green stems that look woody when older, small dimples on top of leaves, and produces small white and pink star-shaped flowers in winter. The jade plant prefers a south window, drying well between waterings, and propagating from leaf buds or stem cuttings with adequate drainage to avoid overwatering issues or pests like mealy bugs or scale.
