Jacob was a tricky man who tricked his brother Esau out of his birthright by trading a bowl of stew for it, as described in Genesis 25:30. He then tricked his father Isaac into giving him Esau's blessing by disguising himself as Esau with animal skins, as recounted in Genesis 27:19. Jacob later worked for his uncle Laban and through trickery increased his flocks and herds, as the Bible relates in Genesis 30:31. However, Jacob ultimately had a life-changing encounter with God and was renamed Israel, showing that even tricky people can be touched and changed by God, according to Genesis 32:24.
