The Greening of IT

We understand that electronic waste impacts the global community as a whole.
Our contribution to environmental preservation is a mission we take seriously.

We remarket, donate, or recycle 100% of the equipment that enters our facility.
Equipment that has no residual value is separated into its most basic component
materials and is then sent to be refined and reused to make new products.

ITAMG continues to do our part to make electronics a renewable asset. Parts are
never sent to landfills or returned to the environment in a hazardous manner.

Our “Zero Landfill” policy is a cornerstone of our environmental business
   philosophy.

Our refurbishment and recycling practices enable us to deliver a quote that is
not only equitable, but represents a high recovery value. No hidden fees: IT
Asset Management does NOT charge for pick-up of equipment, data
destruction, or the recycling of equipment that can be remarketed. Hard drive
shredding is offered at a nominal charge.
Data Destruction: Laws and Mandates

The laws that affect computer recycling and data destruction all deeply impact our
corporate clients. These laws are concerned with larger issues, but have specific
mandates that affect data protection and electronics recycling. Certain statutes
carry significant penalties for non-compliance. In fact, the average cost for a
corporate data breach in the United States is $5 million dollars.

There are generally two types of data destruction laws: those that specifically
enumerate how the data must be destroyed and those that mandate the use of a
disposal system that meets a reasonable standard. States that fall into the first
category typically use some variation of the following regulation: “Businesses must
take all reasonable steps to destroy records by shredding, erasing, or otherwise
modifying the personal information to make it unreadable or undecipherable.”
Data Destruction: Our Practices

Each hard drive we receive is processed for complete data destruction. A variety
of procedures ensure your confidence in the safety of our methods. At a minimum,
all drives are overwritten with a multi-pass software wipe, where a minimum of
three overwrites are completed on the drive. Where there is an even greater
concern on the client’s part, this number can be increased to seven overwrites.
Either of these methods are preferable, each completely eradicating data while
allowing the drive to be recycled at no additional cost.

In instances where it is vital that information be destroyed completely, a
degaussing procedure is utilized, rendering the drive unusable. Drives can also be
physically shredded as an additional insurance. We offer this service at a nominal
charge, in-house, at our facility, OR onsite at your location.
